Oxford Nanopore and A.D.A.M. Innovations Partner to Advance Genomic Medicine
Wednesday, March 18, 2026
Oxford Nanopore Technologies has entered into an international collaboration with A.D.A.M. Innovations (Genesis Healthcare Co.) to expand the use of advanced genomic sequencing in Japan.
The partnership will focus on developing and deploying nanopore-based sequencing applications across A.D.A.M. Innovations’ genetic testing services. In the initial phase, the collaboration aims to introduce real-time sequencing technology into clinical workflows, enabling faster and more accurate genomic testing across a range of diseases.
The initiative is expected to support the adoption of Japan-specific validation standards and enable scalable sequencing of DNA fragments of any length. By capturing more complete genomic information, the approach is intended to improve diagnostic accuracy compared with conventional sequencing methods.
The agreement was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding signed at the British Embassy in Tokyo, highlighting growing scientific cooperation between the UK and Japan.
The collaboration brings together expertise from both organisations to strengthen genomic capabilities in Japan and support earlier and more precise diagnosis. It also aligns with the UK–Japan Health Memorandum of Cooperation and reflects increasing bilateral collaboration in life sciences.
The initiative is expected to contribute to translational research and expand the clinical impact of genomic technologies in Japan.
